happy geek easter

no, I don't mean happy greek easter, I mean happy geek easter. here is your geek pop culture lesson for today....

A virtual Easter egg is a hidden message or feature in an object such as a movie, book, CD, DVD, or computer program. The term draws a parallel with the custom of the Easter egg hunt observed in many western nations.

While wikipedia and others believe to it be false, my favorite story of origin is from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The story suggest the crew had an easter egg hunt one day on the set and didn't find all the eggs before filming. Three eggs can be seen in the film: under Frank's throne, one instead of a light in the main room, one as the group goes up in the elevator to the lab.

There are lots of sites where you can search for virtual easter eggs. Here is one: eeggs.com.
