To celebrate our (CD2E & JB's) 3rd Wedding Anniversary- a blog on a topic near and dear to Jeep Boy: Jack Johnson.
Jeep Boy has suggested that if he were to have his own blog it would be called "FU Jack Johnson". Jeep Boy hates Jack Johnson. And by Jack Johnson, I mean JJ himself and other artist who sound like him including Ben Harper, John Mayer, some of Dave Matthews solo work, and a long list of artist who I couldn't even name.
We were able to minimize JJ for a while by avoiding KBCO. Now we find his annoying rifts have followed us to The Mountain and 93.3. And kept us from seeing Curious George (a favorite of JBs). Please, no more bubble toes!
In sharp contrast, we love Ben Folds. Earlier this week we were delighted to discover that Ben Folds contributed several songs to the Over the Hedge soundtrack. Ben Folds & a children's movie? That seems like as good an idea as 30-somethings in BullSHiT T-Shirts stopping for cocktails on their way to a G rated film. While Brick didn't make the soundtrack, Rocking The Suburbs did. Granted there was a lyric overhaul but the Ben Folds-ness came through in the re-write:
Original Version: Let me tell ya'll what it's like being male, middle class, and white: it's a bitch and if you don't believe, listen up to my new cd sham on!
Over the Hedge Version: Let me tell y'all what it's like Watching idol on a friday night In a house built safe and sound On indian burial ground Sham On!

1) I guess it was actually PG not G. BTW- Only adults at the movie.
2) We stopped for cocktails on the way. We weren't drunk by the fall down the stairs & skin a knee standard that has been set by RCs in 2006.
I have to speak in defense of Jack Johnson. If you want pleasant background music that doesn't take you too far in any one direction, he is just fine. Sometimes, that is just the right thing. Are you prejudiced against ukeleles or something?
Who is Jack Johnson?
Never mind, sounds like I don't want to know.
