No bong hits 4 Jesus

There were several Court rulings today:

-Corporations and labor unions wide latitude in airing advertisements close to elections (oh joy. more swiftboating)
-Students' speech rights limited (no bong hits 4 Jesus)
-No taxpayer challenge to the Bush administration's initiative encouraging faith-based groups to apply for federal grants

Holy 5-4 decisions, Batman! I was going to write a post on this - mostly b/c people really need to realize that the vote next year for President is even *more* about the Supreme Court.

I think that Jeffrey Toobin said it best in the New Yorker last week: http://www.newyorker.com/talk/comment/2007/06/25/070625taco_talk_toobin

Yikes.

Fortunately, there is very much opportunity for another challenge to the FBCI efforts, since the ruling said that there needed to be specific spending on religiousity. Won't have to look far for that one, I hope!

Dang, looks like the catholics are going to have to get rid of all those "little boys for jesus" banners they had printed up.

Shocking!!! The conservative dominated court not protecting individual rights? I'm mystified. Let's push freeky-churches that brainwash kids like the ones running through my neighborhood tonight. I mean, hey, as long as it says church, it's got to be better than pot. Can anyone say Waco?
