In the annual Athmar Park/Whittier illegal fireworks blowout, Whittier pulled ahead in the after-dark hours with not only fireworks and firecrackers heard in every direction but with multiple rounds of each in most directions, and continuing into the wee hours.
People, get a life.
Celebration is good, but how long can setting off rounds of noisemakers be entertaining, really?!? And for another thing, didn't you know, fireworks are illegal?! Where is the famed-of-late Broken Windows policing--it's the repeating rounds of firecrackers that lead to the municipal aerial fireworks set off from MY ALLEY (and all the surrounding streets) that lead to the 3AM gunshots that lead to T-R-O-U-B-L-E.
Come on over, drive around this morning. Every parking lot, intersection and alley needs a good clean sweep from firework detritus. Not that anyone would litter without cleaning up after themselves.
And in another Independence Day note, here are real sample questions from the USCIS citizenship test with their actual and new answers:
Who elects the President of the United States?
OLD: The Electoral College NEW: The Supreme Court
How many branches are there in the United States government?
OLD: 3 NEW: 4
Who is the head of the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government?
OLD: The President NEW: Karl Rove
And, someone's been messing around with this question already,
What is the executive branch of our government?
The President, the Cabinet, and departments under the cabinet members
