Common Cause.
These are the mother fuckers who brought you all the feel good do nothing campaign finance reform laws that have led to the development of 527’s and a myriad of other behind-the-scenes negative campaigns. Fuck you very much. Their latest shame is Initiative 118, the so-called Ethics in Government initiative that will basically ruin lobbying by non-profits – you know, the folks that brought you good social policy and RC favorites like the smoking ban. Since there is a way around every campaign finance reform law, the corporate assholes will find a better financed way around this piece of shit that stunts NP lobbyists from doing the one thing they can afford to do, taking a legislator out for a $10 lunch. So, if you run into one of the mofos carrying a petition to “get lobbyist interference out of politics” don’t sign it. Politics are for everyone, including low-paid non-profit organizations. Stop trying to “fix” the system. The only real campaign finance reform is public financing of campaigns. Where is that ballot initiative? Even the playing field for crissakes. Another note: Jack Abramoff doesn’t live or work in Colorado. Don’t use him as a specter.
If you would like to see the list of who is represented by so-called evil lobbyists in Colorado, click here. Note that Common Cause has a registered lobbyist, no, make that two registered lobbyists.
Post Script: DHP does love the folks that work and are on the board of Common Cause, she just believes that they are mislead on this one. We sould all get behind public financing of campaigns and nothing short of that. Loopholes, people, loopholes.

So I watched Last Comic Standing last night which is a very obtuse hour of reality show hype with maybe 10 minutes of stand up. I am thinking perhaps we need a really complicated reality show structure to decide who gets face time with elected officials. Since we all know Non Profit employees are much more resourceful than pin headed corporate types this would ensure more time spent on Recycling/Teachers/Affordable Housing/Uninsured Patients and less Cable/Sports/Oil & Gas lobby time.
Lets hear it for DHP! Common Cause bites! Those mushy goody for nothin yuckos make me want to barf!
