Barbara Kingsolver's new (non-fiction) title covers her family's year of local foodsourcing---exhausting and what a rich life!!
Did you know....
...the typical food travels 1500 miles to reach you in today's economy?
...we consume more gas in our diet than in our automobiles?
...that we subsidize commodity crops that produce non-foods like corn syrup while encouraging increased consumption of vegetables and fruits?
...you can read more at Animal Vegetable Miracle and get the Kingsolver lowdown on the Farm Bill and that of the American Farmland Trust.

Well, after that, anyone up for the Farmers Market on Saturday for some local produce and meats?
I'm planning on the ballpark flea market. Shall we make a day of it?
I hate the fact that every time you try to do the right thing (eat healthy, buy organic) it turns out your hurting some poor farmer in Iowa or Belize. I'd put in my own garden, but I do good just to remember to water the plant inside my house...
