Milestones & Tequila

While I have oft mocked SNGs for her "27th birthday anniversaries", I can't say that I loved my recent milestone. Such an adult age complete with my first cholesterol test (significantly less invasive/emotional than other test of late) and my first pair of glasses... blah, blah, blah...

But on a happy note, JB & I had a FABULOUS meal at Lola to mark this milestone. We split ahi crudo and tortilla soup to start. JB has the grilled salmon vera cruz with black bean fritter, watercress salad & lime marmalade. I had the tomato crusted black code with queso anejo spoon tamale, chili rajas salsa, and pepita pepiane. And of course, no birthday meal is complete without chocolate. The mexican chocolate tart with toasted almond ice cream and cinnamon chocolate sauce did not disappoint. It was all so great... although, it is the tortilla soup that I most hunger to repeat. All of the Big Red F spots are awesome but Lola is becoming a fav- even over Jax.

We also had a awesome waiter who knew his way around the (tequila) menu. I am not sure if we will find these on the shelf at Mothership but a few that we enjoyed: el tesoro , chamucos, and a very un-tequila, butterscotchy Don Julio 1942.

I can´t believe I missed it. Happy Birthday! I´m bringing you some kick ass wine that you can´t get in the states, so you are going to need an adendum to your birthday meal post. Actually, I shipped it today, so if it makes it home before I do, please gather it from my front porch.
