Scooter Libby's Independence Day comes early

Bush commutes Libby's sentence

Another job for the "4th branch"- advocating for sentence commutes & pardons

“This decision to commute the sentence of a man who compromised our national security cements the legacy of an Administration characterized by a politics of cynicism and division, one that has consistently placed itself and its ideology above the law." -Senator Barack Obama

keeping in mind that you all know I'm pretty much left of liberal, I do need to point out that the Shrub has given fewer pardons and commuted fewer sentences than any other president in the last 100 years. I mean the guy is from the state that keeps trying to execute crazy people, er, insane people.

What this means, I'm not sure, but let's not act surprised. It was totally expected. I'm impressed (ever so slightly) that he didn't pardon him altogether.

Shrub has also veto'd the least amount of bills... abused the hell out of signing statements, but veto'd the least # of bill.

Until this year Shrub was operating with a fully republican controlled government, so I'm guessing that any bills he needed to veto were never sent to his desk.

In any event, me thinks Scooter was about to open his big mouth and start exposing state (er Cheney) secrets. No?

Be careful with statistics...they can be twisted to tell you anything you want. With a Republican dominated government, as DHP said, Shrub could sleep all day. And like Rebeskpe said, he doesn't commute sentences, he hangs people...he's been appointed by God, remember? Jackass.

If you got your news from the Daily Show, you would know that even with that R-Controlled gov't, Shrub did some crazy non-veto, veto action with signing statments. Much like the non-pardon, pardon of Scooter.

I wasn't surprised either. And I know that if Obama were actually to be president, he would have to step down off his high horse. But for now, I am happy to pretend than idealism has a chance. It is 100 degrees. That is dillusional weather. =)
