Ode to the Apple Dumpling

Much thanks to CD2E's fine C-Day meal, I have created a dinner I'm calling 'Ode to the Apple Dumpling'--essentially a combination of the same traditional family meal elements Crafters enjoyed: apple dumplings, sausage, mustard, cabbage.

If you are so inspired, learn from my experience and cook up the sausage crumbles and cabbage in a skillet prior to assembly to cut down on the emanating liquid. Dust with dry mustard, sprinkle with cider vinegar, salt and pepper, then wrap up with some sliced red onion in the apple (I presliced mine) dumpling.

And, if you go to the trouble of making your own dough, double the batch. These are some FAT apple dumplings.
