What did we do before Caller ID (and the Internets)?

A 901# has appeared on my missed call list multiple times in the last week but they never leave a message. I googled the full # to make sure it wasn't someone I wanted to talk to and/or a regional office of my organization. (It is a vendor.) I did find this website in my google results which is an interesting concept. http://800notes.com/

I had come across that website when I was not paying on my credit cards or my second mortgage last year when I had no money. (and consequently googled all the long distance collections calls being made to me)

I found it interesting as well.

And THIS is MY favorite...someone who logs on to the site to share, "Let answer machine get it. 5:01PM. No message left. Did not recognize area code, number or ID: ASOC! Forget it! Waste of time."

Talk about waste of time!

I am wondering why I pay for a landline when all I get are unrecognizable numbers and the occasional call from a client that has my cell number. I love that website and use it all the time. As it turns out, most of the calls come from political fundraisers and the Disabled American Veterans. Needless to say, I'm on the "no call list".
