Haagen Dazs Reserve

With all the new Ice Cream Shops in the neighborhood, you may be surprised that we have time to try the new Haagen Dazs reserve line. The Amazon Valley Chocolate was decent but it is the Fleur de Sel Caramel that is blog-worthy. "Fleur de Sel caramels covered in a chocolaty coating blended into caramel ice cream with caramel ribbons and French sea salt accents. Crisp, salty nuances harmonize with rich, creamy caramel for the ultimate combination of sweet and salty." Ironically it was a Westword rumor of a similar flavor at Red Trolley (never available when we stop in) that planted the seed in our mind that we must have salty caramel ice cream... which we then discovered in the freezer dept at the grocery! Who knew.

On the subject of Red Trolley, IC reminded me that they do have a $2 Wynkoop Root Beer Float for "Happy Hour" 3-6 pm.

Yumm--makes me want some. Now!

But that's only because it brings back fond memories of this year's July 4th ice cream, a salted butter caramel from here:

that I greedily savored without sharing a single bite with any of you. Next time...if it makes it out of the kitchen!

Ironic post, in that last night I got a pint of Dublin Mudslide (B&J) and some pretzel rods to eat it with.

Made for some good debate watching.

Is it wrong to put sea salt on your ice cream?! All this talk of sweet & salty was making me crazy, so I took the plunge and am here to tell you, it's so worth it!

I noticed Starbucks has just introduced a salted carmel hot chocolate.
