For the record, THIS WEEK SUCKED! Evidently DHP was not alone as evidenced by the large amount of alcohol consumed with fellow Crafters on Friday and the spiraling down into threats of political retribution being exacted by the end of the evening. Also, TeamHotPants seemed to be suffering from the doldrums as well. Finally, I have two giant and painful zits that have sprouted on my face, and I don’t get acne!
Since most of you heard my rant that lasted from Monday to Friday, I will spare you, and never speak the words “hog farm” again. On Saturday, bad went to worse as I was forced to attend the Living the Catholic Faith Conference. No shit. DHP at any living the faith conference, let alone that put on by the Catholic church. Definitely going to hell. Definitely. Perhaps there I will learn of the significance of the water dish at each entrance. Too tall to be a dog bowl, too short for a hilarious prank. Maybe used for washing your finger after picking your nose since people kept dipping their finger tips into them.
But I digress. I was there for a forum on immigration where the speaker was Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Ph.D.. Bishop of Brooklyn, NY. I don’t know what a “Most Reverend” is, but this guy made me cry. Just when I really wanted to condemn the Catholics for their anti-abortion rhetoric and desire to legally protect child molesters, they go do something truly outstanding. He said, and I quote, “The magnitude of the challenges of illegal immigration is not a license to engage in angry rhetoric or to implement policies based on racism and fear.” He then denounced those in Colorado’s legislature who are engaging in this type of policy making as xenophobes. Are you listening Schultheis and (Dick) Lamm?
xenophobia \ZEN-uh-FOE-bee-uh\, noun: Fear or hatred of strangers, people from other countries, or of anything that is strange or foreign.
Of course, the archbishop of Denver, being a staunch conservative, did mention that the Catholic Church in Colorado will wait and see the final language of our anti-immigration ballot initiative and whether or not the xenophobes collect all the necessary signatures before taking a position or making a call to action. Of course, this is merely a stall tactic given that the language and title have been set and petition approved.
So, that really summed up my week. Next week will be spent beefing up the work out regimen, keeping my distance from booze (except for Wednesday) and weaning myself from my sleeping pills addiction. Finally, an apology to CD2E for leaving it up to her to keep the blog current and a thank you to SNG & InfoChef for posting. The rest of this post as been deleted at the request of the crafters.

hey there dhp. Too bad the bishop didn't talk about a child sexual assault policy based on fear of losing too many priests. Cynic that I am about the church right now I wonder if they would be so concerned about immigration issues if most of the immigrants were Jewish or Baptist and not potential contributing parishoners.
