8 Rivers: 8 Reasons Not To Go

JB & I were headed to our friendly neighborhood pub (Mead St) and got sidetracked by a new spot- 8 Rivers. We paid the early adopters penalty tonight. Here are 8 Reasons we won't be heading back to 8 Rivers.

1. No liquor license. (why some RCs would never have stuck around for the other 7 reasons.)
2. Poorly written menu that includes such appetizing items as Jamaican beef patty.
3.The greasy wonton wrapped plantains served on a salad plate with a tub of straight from the jar chili sauce.
4. The Smoked Jerk Chicken is really just middle school cafeteria baked chicken thighs.
5. The sagging old lady chicken thighs (extra skin) are saved for the slow cooked Jamaican Curry Chicken.
6. Rice should not be that soft or hold it's shape so well.
7. Authentic Caribbean music like Shaggy.
8. The oil slick on my tongue. In the words of Jeepboy, "I want my $50 back and I will just go home & lick a crisco can."

All I need to know is that their location shout-out on their website mis-uses an apostrophe, as in: Highland's...

Apostrophe-misusers and menu misspellers are DEAD TO ME.

Update: 8 Rivers does now serve booze. When we walk by the patio and see the greasy dishes in front of diners at least they have beer or sangria to help dull the experience.
